Position purpose

The HR Information Systems Analyst is responsible for the configuration, management, optimisation and ongoing development of the organisation's HR technology landscape, with a primary focus on Workday. The role acts as the bridge between HR, Payroll, Reward, Finance and Technology teams, ensuring that HR systems are built and configured effectively, data integrity is maintained, and reporting capabilities support business and regulatory requirements.

This is a hands-on, build-focused role. The postholder will play a key role in system enhancements, process automation, reporting and analytics, data governance, testing and end-user support, helping to drive continuous improvement in HR service delivery.

Main responsibilities

HR Systems Management

  • Act as a subject matter expert for Workday and associated HR systems.
  • Maintain system configuration and security roles in line with business requirements and governance standards.
  • Support the ongoing optimisation of Workday modules, including Core HCM, Compensation, Absence, Benefits, Talent and Reporting.
  • Manage system releases, enhancements and functionality improvements.
  • Coordinate regular system audits and data quality reviews.

Business Process & Configuration

  • Analyse HR business requirements and translate them into system solutions.
  • Design, test and implement Workday business processes and workflows.
  • Support automation initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce manual administration.
  • Recommend process improvements leveraging system capabilities and industry best practice.

Data Management & Governance

  • Maintain high standards of data integrity across HR systems.
  • Develop and implement data validation and reconciliation controls.
  • Support compliance with GDPR and internal data governance requirements.
  • Establish and monitor HR data quality metrics and remediation plans.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Build custom, matrix and composite reports and calculated fields.
  • Produce regular and ad hoc reports for HR, Reward, Payroll, Finance and senior leadership teams.
  • Develop and maintain Workday dashboards and reporting solutions.
  • Support regulatory and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Analyse workforce data and provide insights to support decision‑making.

Reward, Payroll and Benefits Support

  • Support annual compensation and bonus review cycles within Workday.
  • Assist with salary review, promotion and incentive plan processes.
  • Partner with Payroll to ensure accurate HR data feeds and effective integration management.
  • Support benefits administration activities and associated system requirements.

Testing & Change Management

  • Lead system testing activities for upgrades, new functionality and projects.
  • Develop and maintain testing scripts and documentation.
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business stakeholders.
  • Support change management and adoption of new system capabilities.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact between HR and Technology teams for HR systems matters.
  • Build strong relationships with HR, Payroll, Reward and Finance stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and implementation partners as required.
  • Provide training and guidance to users on Workday functionality and reporting.

Project Delivery

  • Support HR transformation and technology projects.
  • Participate in system implementations, integrations and upgrades.
  • Contribute to project planning, requirements gathering and solution design.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with governance and change management standards.

Experience required

  • Hands‑on experience designing, configuring and testing business processes, condition rules, security groups and calculated fields.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes and employee lifecycle management.
  • Experience building custom, matrix and composite reports and calculated fields, beyond running or amending existing reports.
  • Excellent Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Experience of system testing and change management.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on data quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Workday Compensation, Advanced Reporting, Prism Analytics or Extend.
  • Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning and workforce planning.
  • Experience supporting payroll and reward processes.
  • Knowledge of HR data governance and GDPR requirements.
  • Experience with HR system implementations or transformation programmes.
  • Familiarity with integration tools and data interfaces.

Technical requirements

  • 3–5+ years in HRIS, HR Systems, Workday Administration or HR Data Analytics roles.
  • Workday Certification: Desirable but not essential depending on organisational requirements.

Hours & Place of Work

8.30am – 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. However, the candidate will be expected to be flexible to meet project deadlines. EDF Trading has a flexible office/remote working policy. This role requires a minimum of three days per week in our London office.
