Working Full time 37.5 hours per week

We are looking for a passionate and motivated individual who is keen to join our talented Workforce Information Team . You will be expected to ensure workforce information in ESR is of the highest quality by actioning and updating employee and assignment changes. Also responsible for the production of workforce information reports emphasising analytic and data manipulation skills are key.

Support to managers on their use of Manager Self Service will be a key way to ensure high quality data. You will also be responsible for improving the efficiency of HR processes and ensuring standardised systems are implemented across the whole organisation and to provide training on systems and processes for staff new in post.

Main duties of the job

  • Providing high quality, accurate, timely and user friendly HR Information to internal and external customers and stakeholders (staff, managers, payroll, finance etc.).
  • To maintain good administrative processes to ensure workforce information and payroll data are processed accurately and to deadlines
  • Perform the process of producing regular reports to the Trust Board, Executive Team, Managers and HR staff, consulting over the content and format of these reports, investigating any unusual information requiring comment and ensuring that any necessary commentary, analysis or supplementary notes are provided
  • Produce statistical reports and questionnaire responses related to workforce issues required by external stakeholders (such as NHSI etc..) within the timescales set and to the standard required. Liaise with external bodies and internal contributors regarding the information.

Working for our organisation

The Trust’s services are provided from three locations:

  • The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 473 general and acute beds.
  • Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 60 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility.
  • Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust employs 5,964 staff (headcount) to provide care and treatment to a population of over 400,000 people living in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire.

The Trust works collaboratively within the wider Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care System. Due to its location on the border with North Wales, the Trust also works closely with the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

The Trust treats patients from England and some parts of Wales. During 2024/2025, there were approximately 643,000 patient attendances (inpatient, A&E, outpatient and diagnostic) ranging from a simple outpatient appointment to major cancer surgery

Person specification

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or can demonstrate equivalent level of education in an appropriate discipline or extensive experience in NHS workforce information/payroll role

Knowledgeand Exerience

  • Knowledge and experience of a broad range of IT Skills including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Email, internet and local information systems
  • Understanding the importance & requirements of Data Protection & Confidentiality
  • Significant experience in a role supporting staff, managers and decision makers in pay, HR and workforce issues
  • Experience working with payroll teams and experience of the pay process.
  • Manipulating and analysing HR data and presenting it as accessible workforce information
  • Experience within an information role/setting or experience in a recognised information area
  • Working knowledge of NHS Terms and Conditions
  • Knowledge of Workforce Information Systems

Disclosure and Barring Service Check
If the role is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Enhanced DBS check applications that are submitted with omitted or incorrect information will be withdrawn. In the event errors are identified on your original application, a new application will need to be submitted and you will be required to pay the DBS application fee again.

The cost of the DBS application will be deducted from your salary over the first three months of employment.
