As a z/OS Mainframe Systems Programmer, you drive the installation, upgrade, and ongoing maintenance of IBM z/OS and related mainframe software in large, mission-critical environments. You will manage Parallel Sysplex-based systems to ensure high availability, performance, and compliance, collaborating with cross-functional teams and guiding junior members. The role combines hands-on engineering with problem solving and strategic planning for disaster recovery and modernization. - Install, configure, customize, upgrade, and maintain IBM z/OS operating systems
- Manage and support IBM and CA/Broadcom system software across enterprise environments
- Plan and execute OS upgrades and maintenance using SMP/E
- Administer and support large-scale Parallel Sysplex environments for high availability
- Perform system performance monitoring, capacity planning, and resource optimization
- Analyze and resolve complex system-level issues involving z/OS, middleware, and infrastructure
- Collaborate with application support, infrastructure, security, and operations teams to ensure stability
- Implement software maintenance, fixes, service packs, and vendor updates
- Support disaster recovery, business continuity, and HA initiatives
- Maintain security controls and compliance with standards
- Create and maintain technical documentation and runbooks
- Participate in root cause analysis and problem management
- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members
- Support production implementations and planned maintenance, including off-hours work
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in z/OS Systems Programming
- Deep knowledge of z/OS OS, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, JCL, RACF
- Strong expertise in Parallel Sysplex implementation and administration
- Extensive experience with IBM and CA/Broadcom mainframe products
- Experience in large enterprise environments, preferably Banking/Financial Services
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to independently manage complex technical assignments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience supporting mission-critical production environments with stringent SLA requirements
