As a z/OS Mainframe Systems Programmer, you will own the installation, upgrade, maintenance and support of IBM z/OS and related ISV products in a mission-critical enterprise environment. You will work within the enterprise infrastructure team to ensure high availability, performance and security across large-scale mainframe systems. This role involves planning upgrades, applying fixes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support production systems and DR/BC initiatives. You will troubleshoot complex issues, mentor junior colleagues, and participate in after-hours activities for maintenance and upgrades. - Install, configure, customize, upgrade, and maintain IBM z/OS operating systems
- Manage and support IBM and CA/Broadcom system software products across enterprise environments
- Plan and execute OS upgrades and maintenance using SMP/E
- Administer large-scale Parallel Sysplex environments for high availability
- Monitor performance, plan capacity, and optimize resources
- Analyze and resolve complex system-level issues involving z/OS, middleware, and infrastructure
- Collaborate with application support, security, and operations teams to ensure stability
- Implement maintenance, fixes, service packs, and vendor updates
- Support disaster recovery, business continuity and HA initiatives
- Maintain security controls and compliance
- Document configurations, procedures, and runbooks
- Participate in root cause analysis and problem management
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members
- Support production implementations and planned maintenance, including off-hours and weekends
- 10+ years of hands-on z/OS Systems Programming experience
- Deep knowledge of z/OS OS, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, JCL, RACF
- Strong expertise in Parallel Sysplex implementation and administration
- Experience installing/configuring IBM and CA/Broadcom mainframe products
- Experience in large enterprise environments, preferably Banking/Financial Services
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage complex technical assignments independently
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Experience supporting mission-critical production environments with stringent SLA requirements
