z/OS Mainframe Systems Programmer Lead

In this role you will lead the enterprise z/OS mainframe platform, driving architecture, upgrades, and lifecycle management. You will mentor teams, steer platform modernization, and act as the highest-level escalation point for complex issues. You’ll work closely with architecture, security, and operations to deliver scalable, high-availability mainframe solutions. • Lead design, implementation, and support of enterprise z/OS infrastructure environments
• Provide technical leadership for z/OS upgrades and lifecycle management
• Architect and manage large Parallel Sysplex environments with high availability
• Oversee installation, configuration, and support of IBM and Broadcom (CA) products
• Establish best practices, standards, and governance for mainframe operations
• Drive platform modernization, automation, performance optimization, and capacity management
• Lead root cause analysis and resolution of production issues
• Mentor junior and senior systems programmers
• Manage vendor relationships and coordinate software upgrades and evaluations
• Ensure security, risk, audit, and compliance requirements are met
• Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and business continuity
• Review designs for scalability and operational efficiency
• Provide executive-level communication during incidents
• Participate in after-hours maintenance and global operations

• 15+ years of hands-on IBM z/OS Systems Programming
• 5+ years leading Mainframe Infrastructure or Systems Programming teams
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or financial services environments
• Extensive experience with IBM and Broadcom (CA) mainframe products
• Strong expertise in Parallel Sysplex, HA, DR, and mainframe architecture
• Proven leadership of technical teams and large-scale initiatives
• Expert knowledge of z/OS, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, JCL, RACF
• Advanced knowledge of z/OS internals, performance tuning, and problem determination
• Experience with change management and production support
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Experience in regulated environments such as Banking or Financial Services
